Tess Recordon: travel and memory

Tess Recordon’s practice explores the space between landscape and abstraction. Tess takes inspiration from the places she visits, leaving her home environment to experience different perceptions of the world.

She does not use photographs or working sketches of scenes, but works solely from memory in the studio.

Tess Recordon's ambition is to make images that are alive, which she achieves by her use of oil and raw pigment. Her blend of memory, landscape and colour creates luminous, abstract paintings of great strength and beauty.
